After reading Indian Authentic: The Book of Shiva and Ramayan 3392 A.D. by Liquid (Virgin) Comics, I was so fascinated by graphic novels, I started searching for more stuff in this category. When I searched in Google, I came through Comic Con Express Mumbai event. I was amazed to see that such a kind of event is being taking place in India and how come I didn't know about this. But, now when I know it, I have made up my mind to attend this event which is going to be held on 22 and 23 October at World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade. I have already missed the first event which was held at Dilli Haat, New Delhi on 19 and 20 February, early this year. So, to make sure, I have already booked the tickets from Pune to Mumbai in advance to attend this event.
I still remember when I used to go to my native place on summer vacations by train and there used to be newspaper stall in the railway station selling Diamond Comics, Raj Comics, etc. I always used to take 3-4 comics books to read them during my journey. And that's when my passion for comic books started. But, during 90s Indian comic books didn't have much focus or awareness. We used to get comic books at very limited places in those days.
Now lately, many artists and publishers have come forward and I must say they have created a revolution in Indian Comic Books industry. Now, Indian Comic Books have come up to a standard which we used to see in western countries like DC Comics or Marvel Comics. Though, there is a long way to go ahead to match up with these western giants, but it is a very brave start from Indian Comic Books industry. The only thing which is still missing according to my view, is the awareness of such events/promotions which are currently being taken place through various mediums. Even though we have many source in internet like Facebook, Blogs, Online Shopping like Flipkart but comics lovers are unaware of such forums and therefore, many of us still don't know what to look for and that India is hosting its own Comic Con event.
This is the main purpose why I created this blog in first place and want to share my thoughts and happenings around Indian Comic Books industry to all the readers in internet.
So, don't miss this great Comic Con Express Mumbai event and I wish that this event is a success and takes Indian Comic Books industry to a new levels. Hats off to Twenty Onwards Media for organizing such a event.
